Last year a confluence of new ideas, information and opportunity gave rise to a unique project at NetRaising, a website development framework for ExpressionEnigne (EE) we call eeSiteKit.
We launched our first version of the framework back in January of 2009 and within a few weeks there were developers from all over the world putting it to the test. There was a good amount of interest in the project and this generated quite a bit of feedback from its users.
By February we realized that eeSiteKit was selling as many copies in non-English speaking countries as it was here in the USA. This was very exciting for us, but it also made us a little uncomfortable as the whole kit was coded for English websites, and stripping out all of the hard-coded English had to be a nuance for anyone developing a non-English site. So we began the process of redeveloping the the whole framework so that it was language independent, and as a bonus, would allow for the speedy development of multilingual websites too.
Six months later we had a new version of the software ready for use and we began building websites with it at NetRaising. It then took us about 2 months to fully document the new software and prepare it for launch.
Now we’re building and redeveloping nearly all of our websites using eeSiteKit. We start with an out-of-the-box install of ExpressionEngine, embed eeSiteKit then add great artwork as the perfect complement to the advanced functionality of EE and eeSiteKit.
Our very first class of websites built on eeSiteKit 2.0 will be launching during the next few months at NetRaiisng and we’re excited to be showing them off to the world.

NetRaising continues to built websites for some of todays most successful nonprofits, and now those websites will be just a little bit better.
