NetRaising’s Client Hosting

NetRaising’s hosting is reserved for our active website clients and is not open to the public. This helps us keep our hosting more secure as we can ensure the software being used in our hosting accounts and servers is being kept up-to-date. It also helps us conserve resources as we can turn off and/or remove some server software our clients don’t use.

Having direct access to our own servers means we can diagnose and respond to hosting-related website issues faster than if we were reliant on the first-tier support team of a third-party hosting provider. We can also provide value-added services for our clients, including managing authoritative DNS zone files, proper configuration of subdomains, and management of TLS encryption services.

NetRaising has been providing hosting since 2006. We currently lease managed single-tenant servers from Leaseweb that are located near Seattle, Washington.

The “Seattle” datacenter is located in Tukwila, Washington, and is a tier-III+ building with seismic zone 3 specifications, built on a hill well above flood plains. It is a SOC-1/SSAE16 type-II audited facility delivering secure, reliable infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uninterrupted operations. Its carriers include Cogent, GTT, Tata Communications, TeliaSonera, and Zayo. Its security includes On-Site 24/7/365 support, CCTV surveillance, KVM/IP facility, console cart access, and dual-factor authentication (key-card + biometric). The fire suppression system uses dry-pipe pre-action with VESDA aspirating smoke detection. It has 2N and N+1 UPS cooling redundancies, on-site diesel generators, and 300 tons of built-out N+1 cooling capacity. Off-site backups are provided through Acronis, and are located in Ashburn Virginia.

Our Hosting’s Electricity is Greenhouse Gas Neutral

The Seattle data center’s power is supplied through Seattle City Light (SCL), which provides a renewable mix of energy through hydroelectric projects on the Skagit and Pend Oreille rivers and long-term contracts with the Bonneville Power Administration. Over 90 percent of its power mix comes from renewable resources generated by regional hydroelectric dams, wind turbines, and biogas projects.

Seattle City Light’s 2024 Fuel Mix

  • Hydro 78%
  • Wind 8%
  • ¹Unspecified 8%
  • ²Nuclear 5%
  • Biogas 1%
  • Total 100%

¹Seattle City Light’s power supply portfolio does not include coal or natural gas resources. It does make market purchases when necessary. These purchases may incidentally include coal or natural gas resources.

Any emissions associated with unspecified market purchases are then offset through Seattle City Light’s greenhouse gas (GHG) Neutrality policy through the purchases of registered and verified greenhouse gas (GHG) credits to counterbalance those emissions. Each year SCL applies GHG offsets to any emissions associated with its power mix, so the power delivered to SCL customers is greenhouse gas neutral. More information.

²This fuel represents a portion of the power purchased from Bonneville Power Administration.

Our data center provider performs regular decommissioning of hardware that is less environmentally-friendly and recycles 100 percent of all recyclable hardware components using proven methods that meet or exceed environmental requirements for the disposal of all non-recyclable, hazardous components.
