The Chinese Copyright Domain Name Scam

This scam has been around for decades. Someone writes, claiming that they’ve discovered a copyright issue with your website’s domain in some other country; most often in China.

They attempt to extort money from you to register domains in the other country to protect your own “copyrighted” domain.

Pictured below are examples we received in 2024 and 2025 that were mistakenly sent to NetRaising.
